Nexus Point Luxe

by Stephanie Williams

As a featured designer and blog writer for Nexus Point Luxe, the creation of a distinct brand voice is absolutely essential when it comes to expressing our identity as a platform. Today I will focus on what it means to be a designer of one of our main collections that’s featured on Nexus Point Luxe’s website - my very own self titled collection, “Stephanie Williams.” My collection, inspired mainly by the unique concept behind colors, textures, shapes, and patterns in abstract expressionist art movements, helped me to truly envision what it means to understand ideals and visions of beauty that might be labeled as surrealist or unconventional by today’s standards.

Inspiration: What Moves Me Most

While I don’t really have tangible words to describe what my Nexus Point Luxe collection has been inspired by, I do know that if I close my eyes, I can envision what it feels like, and those colors and moods somehow blend together into one harmonious scheme of wearable art. It is like stepping into another world, and that world is based on poetry, fantasy, supernatural beauty, and celestial themes in everyday life. I like to incorporate elements of emotional storytelling as well as visual statement pieces that reflect an avant garde aesthetic. Otherworldly inspiration remains at the heart of my pieces, which always celebrate outside the box thinking, whether it’s nostalgic or futuristic in nature. I feel very drawn to things that can’t easily be seen or perceived with the naked eye, which shows up in my distinctive authenticity as a designer and artist.

The Message

When people look at my collection, I want them to be inspired, and to maybe question the norms of what they are accustomed to seeing as associated with “fashion.” I feel that fashion often is wrongly acclaimed as being strictly superficial and not a form of art or storytelling. But I want to change the trajectory of fashion so that it becomes more openly praised as being tied to art and narrative as opposed to something that is purely shallow, reserved for the socially elite. To me, fashion isn’t about status; it’s about finding your purpose and celebrating it with integrity, style, and openness. You don’t have to be rich or famous in order to be stylish. You can still be fashion conscious and economical.

Concluding Thoughts

In the wise words of Pablo Picasso, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” This quote is what I aim to convey in all my pieces, but most importantly, to demonstrate that there is more to life than meets the eye – far more than our deepest, wildest imaginings. So many people are caught up in tangible things that they can behold with their eyes. I strive to break that mold by incorporating supernatural influence into all that I do, even if it comes from my subconscious psyche, or subtleties in my surrounding environments.
