Nexus Point Luxe

by Stephanie Williams

Imagine your favorite fashion piece, passed down from generations, onto you. What do you feel at that moment? Nostalgia? Warmth? Awe? Admiration?

What types of pieces were handed down to you? Your grandmother’s silk scarf, your father’s tailored coat, or a ring worn for generations?

What if, instead of viewing these pieces from the past as ancient, outdated, or obsolete, we renewed and refreshed our perspective, to apply older tradition to future generations?

The Art of Craftsmanship and True Luxury

If we consider the value of luxury and how it endures, the quality of those pieces withstand the tests of time, without pertaining to social status or expectations. Classic techniques such as hand-finishing, tailoring, and natural dyeing all ensure that the value and quality of pieces pertain to a true sense of style and luxury.

Style is more than just how we look and feel; it is about time, and timelessness, as well as the durability or lasting nature of luxury pieces.

All garments, not just luxury pieces, have a way of standing out to us, particularly if we associate them with certain memories, feelings, perceptions, and thoughts - whether past, present, or future. Certain heirloom accessories and garments that belonged to my great aunt, for example, have stood out to me, and I still wear them to this day. Their value lies not in their age, but in how they are presented, and the memories they carry with me.

Some materials, for instance, are truly timeless - not only in essence, but in physical composition. Fabrics like raw silk, leather, cashmere, or linen don’t age in the traditional sense; they only improve with time.

If you want to be, feel, and look timeless, luxury is right at your very fingertips – as long as you believe in the essence of holding onto heirloom items.
