by Stephanie Williams
In the world around us, particularly in the world of fashion, there seems to be this unconscious need to justify what we wear, why we wear it, what we do, or who we are, just to name a few. Rather than thinking about or considering what makes us tick as well as the value of what we have to offer, we begin to think about what other people think of us or how their opinions define us. Trends start to hold precedence over original styles, to the point where there is no real sense of identity. And if nothing ever deviates from the norm, then how will new trends be created? How will people ever know what fits them stylistically if most fashions start to look, feel, or seem the same?
Find Beauty in the Small Things
Whether it’s through a chain belt or a sentimental flower headband in your hair, it’s all about finding beauty in the small things that add meaning to your life, stylistic choices, and fashions. In a world that doesn’t always celebrate diversity, equity, or inclusion, here at Nexus Point Luxe, we encourage you to be who you are and to be that well.
Don’t Be Afraid to Press Norms or Social Boundaries
Sometimes in fashion, we are told things like, “That’s not in for the summer” or “That’s so outdated - I would have worn that in 1998, but not in 2025.” But what if these norms and social boundaries only existed in our minds, and that the “norm” was only reserved for those who can’t handle true authenticity? The fact of the matter is that most people will only settle for what they are comfortable or familiar with. Anything outside of that imagined box or social norm is unreachable for them.
Know Your Values
Here at Nexus Point Luxe, we value qualities like diversity, inclusion, ethical sourcing, sustainability, and female literacy in fashion. Not only that, but we value stylization for the sake of purpose, not just for the sake of style, trends, or fitting in with a mold constructed by society.
